We collect:

• Your IP address, for rate-limiting and abuse mitigation. Stored as a hashed bucket key, not in any logs we keep beyond 24 hours.
• The path and query params of every render request, anonymized to no IP. We use these to size the service.

Website analytics & cookies

We use Google Analytics 4 (provided by Google) on this website to understand how visitors use it. It is loaded with Google Consent Mode, defaulted to denied: analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*) are set only after you accept the cookie banner. If you decline, no analytics cookies are stored and only cookieless, aggregated signals are sent, which can't identify you. Your choice is remembered in your browser's local storage (shrug-analytics-consent); change it any time via "cookie preferences" in the footer, or by clearing this site's data. We don't:

• Sell or share your data.
• Use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

You can email hi@shrug.pics any time and we'll delete your data.

Terms of service

The service is provided as-is. Don't:

• Use it to render adult / illegal / hateful content as the override ?text=.
• Embed shrug.pics URLs at scale on properties you don't own.

If you do, we'll rate-limit or ban your IP range. Severe abuse may be reported to relevant authorities. Otherwise, have fun and let us know if anything's broken.
